Call to Worship

Have someone read aloud:

1 Peter 2:11-12; 15-16 (NKJV)

"Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men---as free, yet not using your liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God."

Prayer

Thank You, LORD GOD, for the freedom we have in Christ. We are no longer slaves to sin. We have the power to deny ungodliness and wickedness. To live in the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ all the days of our lives. You are our victory and righteousness. Be exalted in our hearts both now and forevermore. Amen.

Scripture Reading

Read aloud (together if applicable).

R-50: CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE (基督徒生活)

Matthew 5:13-16; Romans 14:7-8, 16-18; 1 Timothy 4:12; Philippians 2:15 (NKJV)

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.

Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

...that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world...

Worship through Prayer

  1. Lord, I pray for wisdom and strength to live in Your freedom. May the desires of my heart be holy and pleasing to You. Keep me from sinning against You. May I never again misuse the grace and freedom I have in Christ.

  2. Thank You that my life is not bound by legalism. I am free to love and obey You with all my heart. Thank You for the joy of living for You. May others understand the blessings of having true freedom in Christ through my life.

  3. Thank You for wonderfully creating me. I bear Your image in a unique way as You have designed me. May I be able to freely express the beauty of Your image in my life. Lord, be magnified in and through me.

Self-Reflection & Discussion

  1. What freedoms do you have in Christ?

  2. Are you enjoying that freedom? Why or why not? How is it affecting your relationship with Jesus?

  3. How would you free yourself of the things that might hinder your spiritual growth as a follower of Jesus?
