Call to Worship

Have someone read aloud:

Romans 12:17-21 (NKJV)

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Prayer

Lord of peace, we come to You with heavy hearts for Your people have been angry and fighting over the affairs of this world. We confess our sins for not upholding the peace and unity of the Body of Christ. Cleanse our hearts and minds from all evil. Help us uphold Your peace and love. Purify our offerings as we come to present ourselves to worship You today. Be honored and be glorified as we humble ourselves before You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Scripture Reading

Read aloud (together if applicable).

R-65 CHRISTIAN PATRIOTISM 愛國

Psalm 33:12; Proverb 14:34; Romans 13:1-5; 1 Peter 2:13-14,17; Matthew 22:21b (NKJV)

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,

The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Righteousness exalts a nation,

But sin is a reproach to any people.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.

Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.

Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

...“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Song of Response

Worship Through Prayer

  1. Lord, in the aftermath of the election, the nation has been polarized. Some are rejoicing, while others are angry and grieving. Family relationships and friendships are falling apart. Help, O Lord, deliver us from this evil. Help us overcome evil with good. Give us peace and healing. Save our relationships.

  2. Lord, I know Your command to submit to governing authorities. However, it is hard for me to do so when I perceive evil in those leaders. How can I submit to those who do evil? Help me, Lord. Remove the spirit of rebellion in me. Instead, let me be watchful and pray. You rule above the earthly leaders. Lord, hold every government official accountable. I look to You for my peace and hope for the nation.

  3. Lord, let me strive to be part of the change for good in this nation. Help me to do what is right as a citizen of this country. Allow me to reach others with the truth of Your Word that can renew the minds of people and transform lives for Your glory. Help me to fight evil with good and uphold Your righteousness. Have mercy on our nation. Save us from evil. In Jesus' name. Amen.
