Call to Worship

Have someone read aloud:

Luke 2:10-11 (NKJV)

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Prayer

We come to worship You with joy and thanksgiving. How great and marvelous are You, O God. You are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness. Life and salvation is found in no one else but You. We celebrate Your eternal love and goodness to us in Christ. How blessed we are to be lavished with Your full favor as children of God. Thank You, Lord.

R-56 THE FIRST CHRISTMAS 第一個聖誕節

Luke 2:1, 4-14 (NKJV)

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Worship Through Prayer

  1. Once again, this time of the year, Christmas is here. It's a special season of celebrations for people all over the world. As I do so myself, help me to focus on You, O Lord Jesus. Let me give thanks for what You have done for me to secure everlasting peace with the heavenly Father. I am truly blessed because of You.

  2. Many people, especially those who are afflicted, cannot find a reason to celebrate. Lord, remind me that tears, suffering and even violence have been part of Your first coming. In spite of that, You, the Prince of Peace, born as a baby, laid in that manger, protected by the heavenly Father and safe from all harm.

  3. I worship You, O Prince of Peace. Thank You for the blessed life of being a beloved one. May I continue with new faith and strength to live a life that honors God in every way. May my earthly life be a pleasing offering to God just as how Your earthly life was offered. May all the will of the Father in my life be fulfilled for His glory.
