This weekend is the beginning of the so-called “Lenten season,” a time of reflection and heart preparation in anticipation for the Holy Week celebrations. As an Evangelical Bible church, we do not follow a liturgical calendar, but thought it appropriate to pause a week from our current sermon series to preach on the cost of following Christ to prepare our hearts for the soon-coming Holy Week.
Preparing for Worship
• Find a place free from distractions.
• Gather your family (if applicable).
• Refrain from checking messages on your devices.
• Have your Bible ready.
• Estimated duration of worship: 1 hr 15 mins
Order of Service
Call to Worship
Have someone read aloud:
Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the great love You continue to bestow upon us. We had been saved by Your grace. The new life we have received belongs to You. We offer our lives to You. May we be found holy and acceptable to You as we worship You this moment. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Worship through Songs
TEXT: Maltbie D. Babcock | MUSIC: Franklin L. Sheppard
[Verse 1]
This is my Father’s world
And to my list’ning ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought
[Verse 2]
This is my Father’s world
The birds their carols raise
The morning light, the lily white
Declare their Maker’s praise
This is my Father’s world
He shines in all that’s fair
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass
He speaks to me everywhere
[Verse 3]
This is my Father’s world
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet
This is my Father’s world
The battle is not done
Jesus, who died, shall be satisfied
And earth and heav’n be one
Jesus, who died, shall be satisfied
And earth and heav’n be one

[Verse 1]
O to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer
This is my constant longing and prayer
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear
[Refrain]
O to be like Thee
O to be like Thee
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart
[Verse 2]
O to be like Thee! full of compassion
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting
Seeking the wand’ring sinner to find
[Refrain]
O to be like Thee
O to be like Thee
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart
[Verse 3]
O to be like Thee! while I am pleading
Pour out Thy Spirit; fill with Thy love
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling
Fit me for life and heaven above
[Refrain]
O to be like Thee
O to be like Thee
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart

[Verse 1]
Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all nature
And all created things
Above all wisdom
And all the ways of man
You were here
Before the world began
[Verse 2]
Above all kingdoms
Above all thrones
Above all wonders
The world has ever known
Above all wealth
And treasures of the earth
There’s no way to measure
What You’re worth
[Chorus]
Crucified
And laid behind a stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
[Verse 1]
Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all nature
And all created things
Above all wisdom
And all the ways of man
You were here
Before the world began
[Chorus]
Crucified
And laid behind a stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
Scripture Reading
Read aloud (together if applicable).
R-39 CROSS-BEARING 背負十架
Matthew 16:24; 10:38; 16:25; 1 Peter 2:21; Philippians 1:29; 1 Peter 4:12-13, 16 (NKJV)
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
...Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.
For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

[Verse 1]
In a world full of broken dreams
Where the truth is hard to find
For ev’ry promise that is kept
There are many left behind
Though it seems that nobody cares
It still matters what you do
‘Cause there's a difference you can make
But the choice is up to you
[Chorus]
Will you be the one
To answer to His call
And will you stand
When those around you fall
Will you be the one to take His light
Into a darkened world
Tell me, will you be the one
[Verse 2]
Oh, sometimes it is hard to know
Who is right and what is wrong
And where are you supposed to stand
When the battle lines are drawn
There's a voice that keeps calling out
For someone who’s not afraid
To be a beacon in the night
To a world that's lost its way
[Chorus]
Will you be the one
To answer to His call
And will you stand
When those around you fall
Will you be the one to take His light
Into a darkened world
Tell me, will you be the one
[Bridge]
There are still some battles
That we must fight from day to day
Yet the Lord provides the power
For me to stand and say
[Chorus]
Yes, I’ll be the one to answer to the call
I will stand when those around me fall
I will be the one to take His light
Into a darkened world
[End]
Will you be the one?
I will be the one
Worship through Prayer
Help me be a faithful lover of You, O God. I confess that I have been loving myself and others more than You. Forgive me, for in doing so, I had made myself and others like idols in my heart. Remove all that hinder me from loving You wholeheartedly. Cleanse me again from my sins for Your glory.
As long as You give me breath to live, let me praise and worship You. Help me live my life for You. May all the blessings I receive be returned to You with thanksgiving. May my life be an offering of holy praise unto You.
Give me courage to live by Your Name. I want to be known as a Christian who truly loves and honors You. May the love and power of the Lord Jesus Christ whom I serve be seen in my life.
