Call to Worship

Have someone read aloud:

Matthew 26:39 (NKJV)

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."

Precious Lord, fill our hearts with love and adoration for You. Great are You and worthy of all praises and thanksgiving. Glory be to You, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Everything exists because of Your good will and grace. How awesome and how marvelous are You, O Lord. Heaven and earth belong to You. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it should be both now and forevermore. Amen.

Scripture Reading

Read aloud (together if applicable).

Matthew 16:24; 10:38; 16:25; 1 Peter 2:21; Philippians 1:29; 1 Peter 4:12-13, 16 (NKJV)

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

...Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

Song of Response

Worship Through Prayer

  1. Lord, give me the courage to stand firm in Your truth. I know there will come a time when it would be more difficult for me to remain in that position. When the rubber hits the road and my faith is tested, help me to be able to uphold Your truth and Your Name in the power and grace of Your Holy Spirit.

  2. Lord, please fill me with godly wisdom to see and understand life through the lenses of Your Word. Your Word is life. May I uphold and live by it always. Let me learn to live in the fullness of Your truth and grace. O Lord Jesus, I want to be more like You each passing day. Bless me with godly love that draws people to You and Your truth.

  3. Lord, when enemies attack me because of my faith in You, protect and save me. Equip me with everything that I will need to remain faithful and true to You. Deliver me from evil. Bless me with a way of escape. Lead me to a place of safety. Bring glory to Your Name in and through my battles. Thank You. Amen.
