Call to Worship

Have someone read aloud:

John 16:33 (NKJV)

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

God of all peace and comfort, we give You praise. Blessed are we because Your kind favor rests upon us, Your children. No evil can thwart Your good plan and purpose in this life for all those who are in Christ. Eternal life and blessings through Jesus remain ours both now and forevermore. How awesome is Your grace. We bow and worship Your great Name. We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty.

Scripture Reading

Read aloud (together if applicable).

Psalm 91:1-6, 9-12, 14a, 15b-16 (NKJV)

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler

And from the perilous pestilence.

He shall cover you with His feathers,

And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,

Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

No evil shall befall you,

Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

For He shall give His angels charge over you,

To keep you in all your ways.

In their hands they shall bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

...I will be with him in trouble;

I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him,

And show him My salvation.”

Song of Response

Worship Through Prayer

  1. Father, help me to believe Your Word that I will have trials and sufferings in this world. Both are unavoidable and to be expected. Help me to be ready by being rooted and grounded in Your Word. All that I need to know to go through any trial safely in the power of Your Holy Spirit have already been revealed to me. Help me keep Your Word in my heart and uphold it in my life.

  2. Lord, I pray for wisdom to live my life in truth and righteousness. Give me faith and patience to endure when troubles come. Keep my heart from evil when it grieves and try to seek comfort through anger and resentment. Allow me to see beyond the situations to understand what You are doing to purify my life and faith.

  3. Lord, let me bring glory to You in times of trials. I know that on my own I can't. Empower me by Your Holy Spirit to overcome evil that will force me to renounce my faith and sin against You, and enable me to worship and give glory to You. May I continue to bless Your Name during the dark and lonely times of my life. Save and deliver me from evil. Amen.
